eLECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORTING

Electrical installation condition reporting (formally periodic inspection and testing) is carried out to ensure that the electrical installation is in a safe condition for continued use.

The following are examples of when electrical installation condition reporting should be carried out:

  • the recommended due date has or has almost expired (a notice with the due date logged on it should be affixed to your consumer unit)
  • change in use of property e.g a shop converted to a house
  • change of ownership
  • change of occupancy
  • insurance purposes
  • mortgage requirement
  • before additions or alterations to an electrical installation
  • after damage to the property e.g fire or flood
  • clients request

PORTABLE APPLIANCE TESTING (PAT)

PAT testing is carried out to ensure electrical appliances within the workplace are in a safe condition for continued use. It also gives compliance with the following government legislation:

  • management of health and safety at work regulations 1999
  • provisions and use of work equipment regulations 1998
  • electricity at work regulations 1989
  • health and safety at work act 1974
